Consumer InformationThe federal Safe Drinking Water Act and Colorado Drinking Water Program ensure that public water systems provide consistently safe drinking water. The Colorado Safe Drinking Water Program provides consumer information on various drinking water topics including safe drinking water guidelines, conservation, emergency water treatment, and contaminant information. Generally speaking, the fastest way to get information about the water provided by any public system is to contact that system directly. To find contact information for your particular supplier, look at your most recent water bill. Water systems that serve residential customers, classified as public water systems, are required to provide their customers an annual Consumer Confidence Report. This report provides water quality data for the system. It also lists the contaminants that were detected in the water the last time they were tested and any violations that occurred in the reporting year. A history of drinking water violations, if any, for your water provider is available from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. We encourage you to read your provider's annual report and contact them with any questions. However, if you need further assistance, please contact us at 303-692-3500. The Consumer Confidence Report is the centerpiece of the right-to-know provisions in the 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act. It allows customers to know what is in their drinking water, how the water was treated, and where the water comes from. The reports are designed to assist consumers to make informed choices that affect their health and the health of their families. Every community public water system must provide a report to each of its customers annually.
