Flu Clinic Wednesday Targets Latino Youth

WHAT:

A seasonal influenza (flu) vaccination clinic at Fletcher Elementary School for students and their families. The clinic is provided through funding from the Colorado Health Foundation as part of the Latino Influenza Vaccination Effort (LIVE). Partners on the LIVE project include the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and Aurora Public Schools.

WHY:

Flu results in missed school and work time and, in especially critical cases, even hospitalization and death. Some 35,000 deaths and 200,000 hospitalizations result from flu complications each year in the United States. Students are being targeted in this project because they are the age group that most contributes to the spread of the disease.

WHERE:

Fletcher Elementary School, 10455 E. 25th Ave., Aurora

WHEN:

The clinic is on Wednesday, November 4. The media is invited to stop by the clinic 2:30 pm.
