Early Childhood Health Integration Initiative

CDPHE has partnered with The Colorado Trust to support Colorado’s 31 Early Childhood Councils through the Health Integration Initiative. The Early Childhood Councils are community-based collaboratives working to build a comprehensive early childhood system that connects children, families and resources to quality services in early care and education, health, mental health and family support.

The Health Integration Initiative promotes the integration of health services into broader early childhood development efforts. Over the next five years, CDPHE will be providing technical assistance to the Early Childhood councils as they develop and implement a plan for their local communities to impact one or more of the health/mental health outcomes in the Early Childhood Framework.

On April 22, 2009, with help from the Coalition for Covering Kids and Families (CKF) and commissioned by the Colorado Trust, CKF released a new report:

• The Maze: The Barriers That Keep Colorado's Eligible Children and Families Out of Medicaid and CHP+ and Recommendations to Create a Direct Path to Enrollment.
