Asthma cannot be cured. But, with the help from a medical professional and an
asthma action plan,
you can stay active and healthy.
In Colorado, as with the rest of the nation,
African Americans die from asthma at a
significantly higher rate than whites. They
are also significantly more likely to be
hospitalized than whites. The brochures
below are aimed at increasing awareness of
asthma in the African American Community.
Legislation to allow children to carry asthma
and anaphylaxis medication was passed in
Colorado in 2005. The legislation outlines
the conditions for students to carry their
medication at school, to and from school and
during school-sponsored events.
| The Asthma Program in collaboration
with the Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative (CCGC) and
numerous experts and partners from around the state have updated
the
Colorado Asthma Clinical Guidelines to reflect changes
made in the
national guidelines, EPR-3, by the National Heart,
Lung and Blood Institute. The CCGC guideline website link above
also contains a number of related resources for both patients
and providers. |
