Colorado Youth Development Team
The Colorado Youth Development Team is a public-private partnership of youth and professionals that raises awareness, promotes, enhances and unites positive youth development efforts and strategies across the State of Colorado. It was born out of the Colorado Advisory Council on Adolescent Health to develop a collective framework and common message regarding PYD in Colorado. The CYDT team is striving to institutionalize PYD at both the state and local levels. |
The action plan includes steps such as:
- Conducting an environmental scan of state and local programs using the PYD approach
- Hosting community meetings with both youth and adults across Colorado to learn about the innovative things communities are doing and determine what gaps exist with regards to knowledge and implementation of the PYD approach.
- Infusing PYD concepts and strategies into state and local infrastructure via Requests for Proposals, Memoranda of Understanding and strategic plans.
|
Developing a white paper and call-to-action for policymakers regarding the need and benefit of the PYD approach.
Example outcomes of the plan include:
- Increasing in PYD visibility across Colorado (at State and local level)
- Increasing in youth voice/engagement
- Aligning outcome and evaluation data collection with PYD principles
- Developing policies that require programs to use a PYD approach
- Organizational change that reflects PYD principles
- Increasing in positive outcomes for youth (Or, decrease in substance use, teen pregnancy, violence, injuries – driving crashes, etc.)
