Cessation

More than 4,300 Coloradoans die every year from tobacco-related illnesses. Approximately 18 percent of Colorado’s adult population smoke cigarettes. The Colorado QuitLine provides the tools to quit tobacco for the long term. People who use the Colorado QuitLine along with the nicotine patch are nine times more likely to quit successfully compared to those who quit on their own.

The Colorado QuitLine is a FREE telephone coaching service that connects people who want to quit smoking or using other tobacco products to an experienced Quit Coach. The Quit Coach works with the tobacco user to set up a personal quit plan and provide tips and support that will increase the chances of quitting tobacco for the long term. These expert coaches can talk to callers about overcoming common barriers, such as dealing with stress, fighting cravings, coping with irritability and controlling weight gain. Along with individualized coaching, the telephone service offers a FREE supply of nicotine patches. Colorado QuitLine also offers a web-based service that provides online quit tools and tips based on the latest research. Colorado residents can use either service or a combination of both.

The free telephone coaching service - 1 800 QUIT NOW (1-800-784-8669) is available in English and Spanish. The web-based service is available at www.coquitline.org

The QuitLine is staffed during the following hours (Mountain Standard Time)

Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

If you call after hours or can not reach a coach during the times above, please leave a message and a coach will return your call within 24 hours.
