Cancer in Colorado, 1979 - 1990

Cancer in Colorado, 1979-1984
Cancer in Colorado, 1979-1984, is a cooperative publication of the Colorado Central Cancer Registry, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Colorado Division of the American Cancer Society. Data were collected by the Colorado Central Cancer Registry and through a survey of all licensed Colorado hospitals.

The report provides information about Colorado hospital cancer programs and utilization, Denver cancer incidence, and Colorado cancer survival. The first section of the report displays the results of the Colorado Hospital Cancer Resource Inventory. In addition, cancer case counts by site, stage, and sex are given as reported to the Colorado Central Cancer Registry. The final section of the report, Cancer Site Information, contains 1979-1981 and 1982-1984 Denver metropolitan cancer incidence rates, case counts, and probabilities of developing cancer by age 75 for selected cancer sites by sex and race and includes comparisons to the United States statistics. The inside back cover contains guidelines for the reduction of cancer risk through prevention and early detection.


Cancer in Colorado, 1979-1988
Cancer in Colorado, 1979-1988, is a cooperative publication of the Colorado Central Cancer Registry, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Colorado Division of the American Cancer Society, that reports cancer incidence, survival and mortality. This report contains data that was largely collected by the Colorado Central Cancer Registry and describes 24 cancer sites for men and women.

Data for each of the cancers in the report are displayed in a two-page layout of tables and graphs describing Denver Metro incidence and Colorado survival and mortality rates and stage of disease. Following the data presentations is a list of resources for further information about cancer prevention, treatment, and support services for the cancer patient. Guidelines are given for the reduction of cancer risk through prevention and early detection. Also included are selected findings, methods and definitions, references, and resources.

Cancer in Colorado Men, 1979-1987, is a cooperative publication of the Colorado Central Cancer Registry, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Colorado Division of the American Cancer Society, describing incidence, prevention and early detection, and survival and mortality of cancer in men. The report describes six cancers: 1) Prostate, 2) lung, 3) colorectal, 4) bladder, 5) melanoma, and 6) testicular. The purpose of the report is to present a snapshot of cancer statistics for the counties listed below, while educating health professionals and citizens about specific cancer risks and focusing on cancer control activities such as the development of health services and screening programs. Information for the report was gathered from the ACS, CCCR, Health Statistics Section of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and National Cancer Institute.

The report features data for the Denver Metropolitan Area and includes Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Douglas, Denver, and Jefferson Counties. The report shows data for all cancers combined and six of the most commonly diagnosed cancers: colorectal, lung, melanoma, breast, cervical, and prostate. Cancer In Colorado, 1991-1995
Cancer in Colorado, 1991-1995, is a publication of the Colorado Central Cancer Registry, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, which reports statewide, population-based cancer incidence and mortality data.

This report contains background information, information on data sources and collection, and technical notes explaining the statistical methods used. Data describing incidence, early detection and mortality are presented for all cancers combined and six major cancers, colon/rectum, lung cancer, melanoma, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and invasive cervical cancer for 1991-93 and 1995. Additional tables present 1991-93 and 1995 incidence counts and rates for over 70 detailed cancer sites and 1995 mortality counts and rates for 25 selected cancers. All rates are age adjusted and displayed by race/ethnicity and gender.


Ratios of Cancer Incidence in Ten Areas Around Rocky Flats, Colorado Compared to the Remainder of Metropolitan Denver, 1980-89 with Update for Selected Areas, 1990-95: A Report to the Health Advisory Panel on Rocky Flats.

This report is a publication of the Colorado Central Cancer Registry, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, which reports statewide, population-based cancer incidence and mortality data.

This report summarizes an analysis of cancer incidence among residents in 10 Regional Statistical Areas in the general vicinity of Rocky Flats during 1980-89 compared to the remainder of Metropolitan Denver. A 16-page narrative is followed by 52 figures and tables showing the number of cancer cases diagnosed compared to the number expected over this time period. The expected number of cancer cases in the 10 areas, adjusted for population differences by race/ethnicity, sex and age, were calculated using cancer rates from the remainder of Metro Denver. With this report, citizens in the vicinity of Rocky Flats can compare their communities' cancer incidence during 1980-89 to the remainder of Metro Denver. Cancer types included in the study are: all cancer types combined for persons of all ages and for children, lung, liver, bone, leukemia, lymphoma, esophagus, stomach, colon and rectum, prostate and brain and central nervous system. Also included in the report are: an update for selected areas for 1990-95, technical appendices and references.
