School Site Task ForceSchools that support healthful eating and physical activity as part of a total learning environment produce healthy students. It is imperative that the total school environment, including the cafeteria and classroom, be aligned with goals to positively affect a child's eating and physical activity decision-making skills based on knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Healthy students, who achieve their educational potential, create healthy communities and a healthier Colorado.COPAN's School Site Task Force represents collaboration and participation from state and local health, education, nutrition, physical activity, government, business and industry, and community partners. These collaborators recognize the critical need to improve children's overall health by manage obesity and overweight. The underlying premise of the School Site Task Force is that Colorado schools support an environment in which children learn about a healthful diet and practice physical activity skills that will aid them in achieving a healthy lifestyle.
