The Colorado Department of
Public Health and Environment issued the first phase of a
Research, Development and Demonstration Hazardous Waste Permit to
the US Army and Bechtel National, Incorporated. The Pilot
Plant is being built under a Research, Development and
Demonstration Permit to allow for design, construction,
systemization and pilot testing of the process that will destroy
the stockpile of chemical weapons currently stored at the Pueblo
Chemical Depot near Pueblo, Colorado.
