Clean Harbors Deer Trail LLC
a.k.a., Highway 36 Landfill

The Clean Harbors Deer Trail facility, located north of the community of Deer Trail and west of the community of Last Chance, is the only permitted hazardous waste disposal site in Colorado.  The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division (the Division) first issued a Hazardous Waste Permit in April 1987, with  permit renewals issued in February 1998 and December 2005.  Information needed to renew the hazardous waste permit is anticipated to be submitted by the end of 2011.  The Division also issued a Radioactive Materials License in 2005 that authorized the receipt, possession, processing and disposal of naturally occurring radioactive material.  The radioactive materials license was renewed in 2010.
