clinics with emergency centers are comprehensive, community-based medical facilities which
provide preventive health services, primary care services, diagnostic and/or therapeutic
outpatient services, and inpatient care. Inpatient care may not exceed seventy-two
hours. Inpatient accommodations are not required for medically
indigent program providers or clinics located within a licensed
hospital under specific circumstances. Clinics can perform outpatient surgical procedures such as those commonly
performed in a doctor's office. Laboratory services, radiological services and
pharmacy services must also be provided. In addition, clinics must have emergency
medical protocols for the stabilization and transfer of patients to hospitals. The division conducts certification surveys for compliance with federal and state regulations and investigates any complaints filed against one of these providers. Provider Resources:
