Health Facility Acquired Infections Reporting Initiative

As a result of the passage of House Bill 06-1045, information regarding health facility acquired infections is now available on this site for consumers, health providers and lawmakers to review.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is the lead state agency administering the Health Facility Acquired Infections Reporting Initiative. The department's major responsibilities include

  • developing administrative procedures to fulfill legislative requirements;
  • establishing and supporting the advisory committee;
  • ensuring facilities compile and submit data;
  • administering penalties for non-compliant agencies; and
  • developing an annual report and a mid-year briefing.

The department is committed to analyzing health facility infection data and producing a report that will assist Coloradans in making informed health choices. A committee has been appointed to advise the department regarding the implementation of this legislation.
