Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Multiple programs within the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies in order to visualize, update, integrate, manage and analyze spatial data pertaining to the well-being of Colorado's public health and environment.

GIS activities and users at the department are supported by a dedicated group of staff who work to:

  • Actively contribute in projects within CDPHE that utilize GIS technologies
  • Collect, Maintain, and Manage Public Health and Environmental GIS Data
  • Provide CDPHE employees and the public with access to appropriate GIS Data sets
  • Increase the capacity of GIS users across the department
  • Provide training on the use of GIS technologies to public health and environmental specialists
  • Define new opportunities for CDPHE to utilize GIS

These classes are open to all CDPHE employees who have completed the Introduction to GIS training. Employees of other state and local agencies may also attend, on a space-available basis.
