EMS Provider Certification Requirements

How to Become a Certified EMS Provider

Any individual interested in becoming a certified EMS Provider in the State of Colorado must be at least 18 years of age. All education must be obtained from a Colorado State Recognized Education Program. The process for certification as an EMS Provider in Colorado consists of course work, skills competency attestation, passing the National Registry exam (if applying for the first time or coming in from another state), and submission of an application to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The application should include a copy of the National Registry card, if issued, and other required supporting documentation as listed in the application, and submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for processing. 

If individuals complete their training in Colorado or come in from another state and want to become Colorado certified, they are required to become National Registry (NREMT) certified.
