Immunization Program: Travel Information
Travel immunization clinics (approved for yellow fever vaccinations)
Yellow Fever Vaccine Providers
Yellow Fever, a viral disease transmitted to human by mosquitoes, occurs in
countries of Africa and South America. If your travel plans are taking you to or
from these areas, a yellow fever vaccination may be required. Only travel
clinics authorized by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
can give yellow fever vaccinations. After receiving the vaccine, you will be
issued an International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV). The certification
becomes valid 10 days after vaccination and is then good for 10 years. You must
take the ICV with you in order to enter and exit countries requiring yellow
fever vaccination.
There are certain medical conditions which may prevent you from receiving a
yellow fever vaccination. If you are unable to be immunized, you need to obtain
a medical waiver which should state the medical reason for being unable to
receive the vaccination. This should be written on the yellow fever vaccine
provider's letterhead or on an official form and should contain the provider's
official yellow fever vaccination stamp.
