Vibrio (non-cholera)

Non-cholera vibrios are saltwater bacteria that cause gastrointestinal illness in humans.  Humans typically become infected by eating undercooked or raw shellfish. Symptoms include watery diarrhea with abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting fever and chills. Usually these symptoms occur within 24 hours of ingestion and the illness persists for approximately 3 days.
