Disease Control and Environmental Epidemiology

The Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring

The Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network is a group of centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to determine the prevalence of the Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) in their areas and includes: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia (CDC), Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Wisconsin. The ADDM Network’s methodology is a multiple source, records-based monitoring system. The goals of the ADDM Network are to:

  • determine how common ASDs are (prevalence) in the communities listed above
  • describe the population of children with ASDs
  • compare ASD prevalence in different groups of children and different areas of the country
  • identify changes in ASD prevalence over time
Colorado-ADDM is a partnership between the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and JFK Partners at the University of Colorado Denver.

The goal of CO-ADDM is to provide an ongoing estimate of the prevalence of ASD among children 8 years of age in the Denver Metropolitan area (Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties).
