requirements Available now! Heirloom birth and marriage certificates! Due to recent legislation, Colorado "heirloom" birth and marriage certificates are now available for purchase from the Vital Records Section of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. These commemorative certificates are suitable for framing. If you would like to apply for a marriage license or certificate you will need to contact your local county clerk and recorder.

Fax or mail an application as directed on one of these
forms: Marriage records for the entire state are available for the following years: 1900 to 1939, and 1975 to present. Verifications for the years 1940 to 1974 are not available from this office and must be obtained from the county where the license was obtained. The person named on the record, members of the immediate family, legal representatives of those named above, and others demonstrating a direct and tangible interest in the record may request a copy. Effective January 1, 2007, proof of your relationship or direct and tangible interest is required. Applicants must submit proof of their relationship or documentation to establish their legal interest in obtaining the birth certificate (i.e. birth certificates, marriage certificates, certified court orders, insurance polices). Dissolution (divorce, separation and annulment) records for the entire state are available for the following years: 1851 to 1939 and 1968 to present. Verifications for the years 1940 to 1967 are not available from this office and must be obtained from the county where the dissolution was decreed. The person named on the record, members of the immediate family, legal representatives of those named above, and others demonstrating a direct and tangible interest in the record may request a copy.
