Energy Fuels Resources Corporation
Proposed Piñon Ridge Uranium Mill
A uranium mill is being proposed for construction in Montrose
County by Energy Fuels Resources Corp.
The
proposed site for the mill is approximately 12 miles west of
Naturita in the Paradox Valley. The proposed mill would be the first
uranium/vanadium mill built in the United States in more than 25
years.
Before construction can begin, the Colorado Department of Public
Health and Environment must review and approve the company's
applications for a radioactive materials license and for air
emissions permits. In addition, the U.S. EPA must approve
construction of material impoundments at the mill site.
More information on these actions can be found below.
Radioactive Materials License
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s
Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division approved the
radioactive materials license on January 5, 2011.
Air Permit
The proposed facility also must obtain an air permit from the
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Air Pollution
Control Division. Proposed facilities must demonstrate that they
will not cause or contribute to violations of the National Ambient
Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). For more information on various
aspects of the air permit and the permitting process, please follow

EPA Approval of Impoundments
The U.S. EPA has made notice its intent to approve construction
of uranium byproduct material impoundments at the mill site, and has
established an informal public comment period on its approval
through April 8, 2011. More information on EPA's approval can be
found at the following site:
Additional materials and documents will be posted here as they
become available.
